If there’s anything Blossoms do best- it’s creating some absolute corking pop songs and Perfect Me is just the latest in a line of BRAND-SPANKIN’-NEW ‘uns. From their upcoming 5th Record, ‘GARY’ (named after a gorilla, I’ll have you know), comes a commentary of life in the modern world.
Because, come on, we’ve all been there. Socials are always dictating what we should do with our lives n that. Whether that’s Twitter telling you to get ready for a “clean girl summer” or a man telling you that any food but eggs are the devil on TikTok (eggs are in actual fact, the devil). Everyone’s telling you what you should and shouldn’t do in order to be happy and Blossoms have very much taken that n picked it apart. “I’ve got to be the perfect me” Tom Ogden chants over and over, as we all have at one stage in our lives, except maybe not over a backdrop of disco synths. For yes, this is another ABBA influenced track from the fab Stockport five, with hints of The Killers, a slick of Springsteen and a music video that reeks of a Monkees montage scene. It's completely different to the other singles they’ve released so far from this album, all lovely n synthy (if you know me you know I blimmin love a good synth) and we at Dead Pop Mag Society for one can’t bloody well wait for the next ‘un. Album review incoming shortly x
